Houston Symphony Presents 'Music of the Beatles' Concert This Weekend

The Houston Symphony will begin its much-anticipated 2015-16 POPS season with a tribute to the legendary rock group The Beatles with performances this weekend, September 4, 5 and 6, led by Principal POPS Conductor Michael Krajewski.

The all-out Beatles celebration will take place at Jones Hall 50 years after Beatlemania first arrived in Houston when the group performed at the Sam Houston Coliseum in the summer of 1965. The first half of the program will feature the entire Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album, which is ranked no. 1 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "500 Greatest Albums of All Time." The second half will be dedicated to the Beatles biggest career hits, including "Let It Be," "All You Need Is Love" and "Eleanor Rigby."

Joining the orchestra will be Finnish vocal sextet Rajaton (pronounced Rah-yah-tann), a pop phenomenon in their native Finland known for successfully bridging the gap between classical and mainstream music. The six-voice a cappella ensemble performs around 100 concerts a year and has produced 14 albums in its time together. They are known for their excellent vocal blending and ability to perform a diverse array of genres and repertoire.
