Houston Symphony Performs Score of BACK TO THE FUTURE to Celebrate 30th Anniversary Tonight

HOUSTON (July 27, 2015) -The Houston Symphony is commemorating the 30th anniversary of the worldwide cultural phenomenon Back to the Future at 7:30 p.m. tonight, August 1, with a screening of the Academy Award-winning film accompanied by the Houston Symphony's live performance of the incredible score.

Released on July 3, 1985, Back to the Future became the most successful film that year, leading to two sequels and stamping an enduring imprint on pop culture. The orchestra will perform the movie's classic score in-sync with the film, led by conductor Constantine Kitsopoulos. Known for his versatility conducting opera, orchestras and musicals, Kitsopoulos has appeared with the New York Pops, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Colorado Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, and New York Virtuosi Chamber Symphony, as well as conducted orchestras for the Tony-nominated Broadway musicals "A Catered Affair" and "Coram Boy."

Composed by Alan Silvestri, the music from Back to the Future is as sweeping, entertaining and thrilling as the film itself. As an added bonus for the live audience, the concert will feature approximately 15 minutes of new music that has been added since the movie's original release. Silvestri has worked in the film and television industry for decades and has scored over 80 major motion pictures, including Father of the Bride, Forrest Gump, Richie Rich, The Parent Trap, Cast Away, The Polar Express, The Avengers and many more.
