the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra continues a decades-old tradition of presenting free outdoor concerts around the Independence Day holiday with a series of five performances in five different communities beginning on Saturday, June 30 and ending in Harrisburg's Reservoir Park on Wednesday, July 4. Here's the full schedule:
Saturday, June 30 at 8 pm - Negley Park in Lemoyne
Sunday, July 1 at 7:30 pm - Dickinson College campus in Carlisle
Monday, July 2 at 8 pm - Lebanon Valley College campus in Annville
Tuesday, July 3 at 7:30 pm - Millerstown Park in Perry County
Wednesday, July 4 at 7:30 pm - Reservoir Park in Harrisburg
The Harrisburg Symphony's Tony Award-winning Maestro, Stuart Malina, will lead the orchestra. Joining the orchestra this year as vocalist is local favorite, Diane Wilson Bedford.
The Reservoir Park concert will be followed by the city's annual spectacular Independence Day Fireworks show. The performances, along with parking at each venue, are FREE to one and all and the entire community is invited to grab their lawn chairs and a blanket and enjoy an evening of familiar, family-friendly patriotic "music under the stars."
The orchestra's appearance in Reservoir Park is being sponsored by the Dauphin County Commissioners, Faulkner Subaru, Orrstown Bank, and UPMC Pinnacle.
The Harrisburg Symphony will open its 2018-2019 concert season, the orchestra's 89th season, in October. The HSO will be offering subscriptions to both its Masterworks and Capital BlueCross Pops Series at a discount of 50% off the single ticket price at each of the summer concerts. For more information about the summer concerts, including rain locations in the event of inclement weather, please call 717-545-5598 or visit the HSO website at HarrisburgSymphony.org.
