Ensemble 212 presents the second of its unique concert series titled Cultural Convergences & Holiday Concert, tonight, December 21st at 8pm.
The "Cultural Convergences" series is an innovative presentation of music from Western & non-Western European cultures featuring a combination instruments representative of different backgrounds and cultures. The evening will feature three soloists performing unique works composed and arranged for Korean musical instruments accompanied by a symphony orchestra along with traditional Holiday favorites in the spirit of the season. Special guest soloists include Master Gye Ok Kim & Rami Seo, performing on the Gayageum, a zither-like plucked string instrument and Heeryon Kim, performing on the So Haegeum, a bowed string instrument played like a small cello. New York premiere of The Desires for Viola & String Orchestra, a new work by E212 Composer-in-Residence, Works by Vaughan-Williams, Bizet, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker and a Hallelujah Chorus Sing-Along Finale round out the evening's festivities.
