Early Music America Hosts BAROQUE PERFORMANCE COMPETITION Today, 10/10

Early Music America's hosts its first BAROQUE PERFORMANCE COMPETITION, presented by Gotham Early Music Scene (GEMS) today, October 10, 2012 at 7:00pm at Corpus Christi Church. The venue is located at 529 West 121st Street (between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue), New York, NY 10027.

Tickets are available for $20 and $10 for students and EMA members. They are available for purchase at www.gemsny.org, by calling (212) 866-0468, or at the door.

Artists participating are Agave Baroque, Ostraka, Pallade Musica, The Sebastians, Les Sirènes, and Zweikampf.

Six emerging period-instrument ensembles will compete in concert for a Grand Prize of $3,000 in cash and bookings on four major early music concert series in the USA. The Grand Prize, plus an Audience Prize of $1,000, will be awarded at the end of the concert.

This new Baroque Performance Competition is sponsored by Early Music America, and the concert will be presented by Gotham Early Music Scene as part of the organization's fifth anniversary celebration.
