One of music's most innovative composers, Daniel Bernard Roumain, will perform on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. at the McGlohon Theatre in Spirit Square. The show is presented by the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.
Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) is known for fusing his classical music roots with a myriad of soundscapes. He has carved a reputation for himself as a passionately innovative performer, composer, violinist, and band leader. As a composer, his dramatic soul-inspiring pieces range from orchestral scores and energetic chamber works to rock songs and electronica.
The program at the McGlohon Theatre will feature works from DBR's newest album, etitudes4violin&electronix, a musical exploration between the contrasting cultures and instruments of classical and pop music. The violin, the keyboards, the turntables and the laptop will sing, battle and rhyme together, honoring a full spectrum of musical inventions. According to AllAboutJazz.com the album is a "demonstration of unquestionable virtuosity and commitment to the violin's expressivity."
