The Cleveland Orchestra has announced that its next neighborhood residency will take place in Broadway Slavic Village. "The Cleveland Orchestra At Home in Broadway Slavic Village" will consist of community activities, musical performances, and education presentations throughout the community in Spring 2015. Complete details will be announced in the coming months.

Broadway Slavic Village was chosen because it is a Cleveland neighborhood that symbolizes both the history and the future of Cleveland. The Broadway Historic District at the intersection of E. 55th street has ethnic roots in the Czech and Polish communities with rich musical heritages. Broadway Slavic Village was once the center of the foreclosure crisis, but today it is a national leader in reimagining urban land use and is home to people of all ages, races, and income levels, active families, young professionals and empty nesters. "The diverse neighborhoods of Broadway Slavic Village are ideal settings for music and celebration," says Chris Alvarado, executive director of Slavic Village Development. "We are thrilled to have been chosen to host the third annual Cleveland Orchestra neighborhood residency. We look forward to welcoming The Cleveland Orchestra and all who believe that music spans cultures and brings joy. Let's have fun together!"

The centerpiece of the Orchestra's neighborhood residency in Broadway Slavic Village will be a free, public Cleveland Orchestra concert on Friday evening, April 10, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. The residency activities will also include solo and chamber performances in unique locations, education programs at local schools, and a series of new artistic collaborations with neighborhood arts and cultural organizations.

The Cleveland Orchestra launched its "At Home" neighborhood residences in May 2013 in the Gordon Square/Detroit-Shoreway community of Cleveland. The activities included a free Cleveland Orchestra Concert at Saint Colman Catholic Church. The 2014 neighborhood residency took place in Lakewood, Ohio, with a strong partnership with the Lakewood City Schools and community partners, and a free Cleveland Orchestra concert at Lakewood Civic Auditorium.

The goals of the Orchestra's "At Home" neighborhood residencies are to engage with local community partners around arts and cultural activities, to bring increased visibility and vibrancy to Greater Cleveland neighborhoods, and to offer more people the opportunity to experience performances by the Orchestra and its musicians.

Details of "The Cleveland Orchestra At Home in Broadway Slavic Village" will be announced in the opening months of 2015, including a schedule of events and the process for acquiring tickets for the free public Cleveland Orchestra concert to be performed on April 10.

The Cleveland Orchestra's "At Home in Broadway Slavic Village" neighborhood residency education programs are supported in part by a grant from the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation.
