The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera is presenting a Shakespearean-themed concert to celebrate the bard's 450th anniversary of his birth tonight, October 9, 2014 at 7:30pm at the Tivoli Theatre. CSO Music Director Kayoko Dan selected three works to perform in celebration - Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream suite, and Bernstein's Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, a modern day version of Romeo and Juliet.
In keeping with the theme of these theatrically inspired musical works, actors from Shakespeare Chattanooga will be performing scene selections for both the Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn pieces. "We are thrilled to appear with such a prestigious arts organization," said Shakespeare Chattanooga Producing Director Janis Hashe.
Tickets are available by calling the CSO box office at 423.267.8583, visiting the box office Monday through Friday from 10am to 5pm at 701 Broad Street, or online at HYPERLINK "http://www.chattanoogasymphony.org" www.chattanoogasymphony.org. Students can attend for $15 with a valid student I.D. and children 17 and under can attend free with a paid adult.
