Carousel Theatre Company (Kelly Feustel, Artistic Director; Kevin Feustel, Managing Director) is proud to present Pierre Corneille's LE CID, directed by Richard Pepio. This production will play a very limited run at the Gene Frankel Theater (24 Bond Street), Friday and Saturday, July 24 and 25 at 8 PM, with matinees on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26 at 2 PM. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from Carousel Theatre Company's website, www.carouseltheatreco.com.

The Ensemble cast, students and graduates of Hofstra University's Department of Drama and Dance, features Louis Aquiler, Jeremy Benson, Chelsea Frati, Lea Heller, Matt LeClair, Bethany McNamara, Keith Pinault, Christian Titus and Richard Traub. The production features fight direction by Charles Rohlfs and lighting design by Jana Mattioli.

Pepio's staging, originally his senior practicum presentation at Hofstra University, retains the traditional intentions and romantic chivalry of the piece while adjusting the script to emphasize the speed and magnitude at which the events are spiraling out of control. A unique overlapping of scenes, a variety of on stage swordfights (against the Neoclassical theory of keeping violence offstage) and artful tableaus emphasize the changing relationship between our star-crossed lovers, Rodrigo (The Cid) and Ximena, children of warring families, whose relationship isn't as ideal as it once seemed. With a design concept that pits the audience face to face from across the playing space, this production of LE CID goes as far as to make you choose your side.

Carousel Theatre Company (Kelly Feustel, Artistic Director; Kevin Feustel, Managing Director) was founded in June, 2008 with the mission of bringing cutting edge, professional quality theater to audiences for an affordable price. Putting the community back into theater by hosting local events to help those in need of strength, health and happiness, a portion of the proceeds from each event is given to a different charity. The staff of CTC forms an enthusiastic circle of motivated and artistic individuals dedicated to producing new plays that challenge the audience, along with dynamic interpretations of classical and contemporary works.
