CANTON, OH (March 31, 2016) - In 1979 a song titled Crazy Little Thing Called Love topped the US rock charts. It was the band Queen's entry into the US after finding success in the UK and Europe. Fronted by the flamboyant, artistic, one-of-a-kind Freddie Mercury, the band developed and performed rock music like no one before them or since. On April 7 at 8:00pm at Umstattd Performing Arts Hall, the Canton Symphony Orchestra will team up with musicians from Jeans 'n Classics to perform many of Queen's top hits. The concert is sponsored in part by the W. Henry Hoover Foundation, News-Talk 1480 WHBC and Mix 94.1.

Jeans 'n Classics has been combining world class rock musicians with orchestras for over 20 years. They have a reputation for providing lush arrangements of rock and pop classics for rock band and orchestra that create performances popular with audiences of all ages. The Music of Queen features a band consisting of Michael Shotton on vocals, Adam Martin on guitar, Don Paulton on keyboard, Stephen Lucas on bass guitar, and Jeff Christmas on drums. Along with Rique Franks and Katalin Kiss on back-up vocals, the Kent State University - Stark Chorale and Chorus and Canton Symphony Orchestra will round out the musical performance.

"Freddie Mercury, although most known for his rock performances, had a deep appreciation and love for the arts - theater, ballet, opera," notes CSO President and CEO Michelle Mullaly. "What better way to pay tribute to Queen's music than with a full chorus and orchestra rocking with a band and singers!"

To get you warmed up, Mix 94.1, News-Talk 1480 WHBC and the CSO are hosting a pre-concert Glam Rock Party in Foundation Hall of the Zimmermann Symphony Center (2331 17th Street NW - adjacent to Umstattd Performing Arts Hall). The party will feature food, cash bar, 70's rock music and local personalities.

Tickets for the concert range from $18 to $28 per person. Senior and Student discounts are available. Tickets for the Glam Rock Party are $15 per person. Tickets are available online at www.cantonsymphony.org, by phone 330-452-2094 (weekdays 9:00am - 5:00pm) or at the door beginning 1 hour before concert time the day of the performance.
