The Canton Symphony Chorus will present a "Holocaust Cantata" concert on Friday March 4 at 7:00pm at Christ Presbyterian Church (530 West Tuscarawas Street, Canton). The 70-member Canton Symphony Chorus is under the direction of Dr. Britt Cooper, Director of Fine and Performing Arts and Director of Choral Activities at Walsh University.
The program for the concert includes music based on Polish songs sung in concentration camps. The primary motivation for the concert came from the recent Syrian refugee crises. "Our hope is that these refugees, oppressed in modern times, can find comfort through song much as Jews did during the Holocaust," Cooper explains. The pieces were discovered in the archives of the Holocaust museum in
Washington by the composer. They are inspired by folk music, and while translated into English, keep that flavor. Canton
Symphony Orchestra cellist, Paul Miahky and baritone Michael Roemer will be featured on several of the pieces.

The Canton
Symphony Chorus was founded in 1984 as a volunteer adult ensemble. The chorus has performed major choral works with CSO Music Director
Gerhardt Zimmermann and the orchestra on MasterWorks concerts and also performs regularly on the
Holiday Pops concert. The Chorus rehearses weekly from
