Colorful and intriguing music depicting saints and sinners (and several characters that combine those roles) makes up this exhilarating program. You'll enjoy everything from the haunting "Chaconne" from John Corigliano's Oscar-winning music for the movie The Red Violin to a cheeky mini-concerto for bassoon that pays homage to the "King of Rock and Roll" to the angelic strains of Pulitzer Prize-winner Aaron Jay Kernis' Musica Celestis. Led by guest conductor Vladimir Kulenovic, the program will feature guest violinist Liza Ferschtman and the CSO's principal bassoonist Betsy Sturdevant.
The full program will include Schubert's Overture to Des Teufels Lustschloss, Corigliano's "Chaconne" from The Red Violin, Greenwood's Suite from There Will Be Blood, Daugherty's Dead Elvis, and Kernis' Musica Celestis.
