Brevard Symphony Orchestra to Produce World Premiere of Local Composer's Work, 1/17

Local composer and Brevard County resident Steve Kornicki will receive the world premiere performance of his award-winning orchestral piece, Fanfare in a Continuum of Gradual Momentum, when the Brevard Symphony Orchestra takes the stage at the King Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, January 17, 2015. Led by BSO Music Director and Principal Conductor Christopher Confessore, the BSO will also feature internationally-renowned cellist Allison Eldredge on Edward Elgar's lyrical and dramatic Cello Concerto during the first half of the program. The concert concludes with Finnish master Jean Sibelius' romantic and highly-acclaimed Symphony No. 1. Premiered at the end of the 19th century, Sibelius' First Symphony is a passionate work, with nods to the romanticism of Tchaikovsky and other Russian masters, while evoking its own unique sound and style. Allison Eldredge has captivated audiences throughout the world with her deeply communicative tone and commanding technique. An Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, she has been performing in the foremost music centers of the United States, Europe, the Far East, and Latin America since childhood. Ms. Eldredge has performed as soloist with many of the world's great orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Saint Louis Symphony, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Montreal Symphony, Boston Pops, New World Symphony, Utah Symphony, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony, Royal Philharmonic, China National Symphony and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Born in New York City, Ms. Eldredge began her musical training on the piano at age three with her mother, concert pianist Yoshie Akimoto, and made her first public appearance at age six. At nine she switched to the cello and won her first competition within six months. Her teachers have included Harvey Shapiro and Felix Galimir at The Juilliard School, as well as Mstislav Rostropovich, Eleanore Schoenfeld and Joan Lunde. Now living in the Boston area, Ms. Eldredge serves on the faculty at the New England Conservatory.

The BSO invites patrons to enhance their concert experience by attending Concert Conversations with Christopher Confessore. This interactive session begins approximately 40 minutes before the performance. Main floor seating is open during the informal informative discussion.
