Bravo! Vail has announced its 28th Season will take place from July 1st to August 6th, 2015. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Vail, and will collaborate with some of the world's most sought-after soloists. Additionally, the season will feature chamber artists in concert throughout the Vail Valley.
The season opens on July 1 with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and violinist Pinchas Zukerman in an all-Beethoven concert. On July 3, Dallas will perform one of the most iconic choral works ever written: Mozart's Requiem.
Jeff Tyzik returns on July 4 to conduct the popular Patriotic Concert, and conducts a program on July 5 highlighting music from the silver screen.
July 6 features Bravo! Vail Artistic Director Anne-Marie McDermott and pianist Alessio Bax performing Poulenc's Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra. Also on the program is Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique. Closing out Dallas's residency on July 8 is a concert entitled Let's Dance, which showcases music surrounding classic and popular dance styles, and features professional dancers.
The Philadelphia Orchestra's residency begins on July 10 with Garrick Ohlsson performing Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto. Cristian M?celaru conducts the following evening's pops concert featuring music and scenes from Pixar films. On July 12 Philadelphia performs a Pulitzer Prize-winning work by American composer Jennifer Higdon and Dvo?ák's New World Symphony.
Stéphane Denève conducts the July 15 concert, The Musical World of
John Williams. The concert on July 17 is a sparkling collection of music inspired by Shakespeare's works, and July 18's concert celebrates Philadelphia's unique and lush sound with works by Mussorgsky and Sibelius.
Bramwell Tovey opens the
New York Philharmonic's residency on July 24 conducting Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor, and siblings Joshua and
Alisa Weilerstein perform Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme on July 25.
Tovey returns on July 26, along with Anne-Marie McDermott, to present Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Violinist Midori makes her Bravo! Vail debut on July 29, and
Alan Gilbert conducts the July 30 concert featuring a diverse celebration of American music. Closing out the orchestral series on July 31 is a concert that includes Mozart's exuberant Sinfonia Concertante.
The Chamber Music Series opens on July 7 with music for two pianos, including works by Glass, Schumann, and Liszt. On July 14 David Kim and members of The Philadelphia Orchestra will perform Mozart's lively Eine kleine Nachtmusik. On July 21 violinist Augustin Hadelich joins cellist Christopher Costanza and pianist Joyce Yang, and the final Chamber Music Series concert on July 28 features
New York Philharmonic musicians performing the Vail premier of Ern? Dohnányi's Sextet.
The unique Classically Uncorked series celebrates the old and the new of classical music in an intimate setting. Held over three consecutive nights beginning on August 4, this series places the performers close to the patrons for an exceptional concert experience. Concertgoers enjoy hors d'oeuvres and distinctive wines specially selected for the series.
Following a wildly popular debut season, the Bravo! Vail After Dark series offers audiences a new way to experience classical music. This year's artists include pianist Christopher O'Riley, the Donald Sinta Saxophone Quartet, and the Attacca String Quartet.
Back by popular demand, members of The Philadelphia Orchestra will perform Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf for the Free Family Concert on July 16.
The Soirée Series gives patrons the rare opportunity to experience beautiful music performed by world-renowned musicians in intimate concerts hosted by local music lovers in their homes. Each concert is preceded by cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and followed by a dinner catered by celebrated area chefs.
In a brand new collaboration this year, Bravo! Vail will host the live concert recording of the acclaimed radio show From the Top with Host Christopher O'Riley. The show is America's largest national platform dedicated to celebrating the stories, talents, and character of classically-trained young musicians.
Audience members will be part of the show's creation, while meeting a young generation in love with classical music.
During its 28th season, Bravo! Vail will offer 17 free concerts and several community engagement events for people of all ages throughout the Vail Valley.
Orchestral concerts start at $28 for lawn seats. Lawn tickets for children 12 and under are $5. Pavilion Saver, Reserved, Premium, and Premium Aisle seats start at $39, $69, $84, and $99 respectively. Tickets for the Chamber Music Series start at $29 and tickets for Classically Uncorked start at $50. >From the Top tickets start at $35.
