The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) announces its release of their all-new Midweek Teachers' Resource Guides for use in conjunction with the BSO's Midweek Education Concerts. The easy-to-use guides connect each Midweek Education concert to essential curricular subjects, and introduce fun, exciting and innovative ways for teachers to provide deeper learning opportunities for their students. Each guide includes musical, STEM and language arts resources for What Beethoven Heard (October 30 & 31, 2013), The Snowman (December 5 & 6, 2013), America the Beautiful (February 4 & 5, 2014) and Carnival of the Animals (February 6 & 7, 2014).Please see below for complete program details.
Midweek Teachers' Resource Guides are a collaborative effort between Maryland music, science and language arts educators, Arts Education in Maryland Schools Alliance (AEMS), the BSO Science Advisory Team and the BSO's own Education Department.
"These excellent, new resources will connect teaching and learning in the classroom to the powerful experience of the BSO," said Mary Cary, the executive director of Arts Education in Maryland Schools Alliance.
With each guide, a series of lesson plan seeds and sprouts enable teachers to pick and choose educational concepts that will work best in their classrooms. These seeds spark meaningful curricular connections and promote fun, interactive and arts integrated learning while meeting state and national curriculum, common core and next generation science standards. To supplement these resource guides, teachers may download select concert repertoire, courtesy of Naxos. The guides and digital CDs can be found at
