Australian Brandenburg Orchestra Welcomes Banking Chief to Board of Directors

Mr Bruce Applebaum, General Manager of the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, announced this week that Mr Greg Ward, Deputy Managing Director of The Macquarie Group, has taken up the role of Chairman of the Orchestra. He replaces Mr Rowan Ross AM who was Chairman of the company for the past 8 years.

Greg Ward said: "In our 25th year, this Orchestra is now widely celebrated as a precious national cultural asset. We are highly respected locally and internationally for our excellence in performing the finest baroque music on rare period instruments. The Orchestra's authentic sound, produced by a superb combination of the very best players from all over Australia, is augmented by the most outstanding guest artists Australia and the world has to offer. This is a unique combination and therefore I am delighted to take up this role as Chairman. I particularly look forward to our future and our challenge to find a permanent home for the artistic company and administration."

The Brandenburg Board boasts a balanced and widely representative group of individuals including:-

David Zehner - Managing Partner, Bain & Company

Next week in Sydney, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra will open its next concert series featuring Russian violinist and countertenor, Dmitry Sinkovsky. Sinkovsky is a master of the Russian technique on violin and is guaranteed to thrill Sydney and Melbourne audiences over the next few weeks.
