Andrea Bocelli to Headline 6th Annual Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Festival Concert

Flash Entertainment, Abu Dhabi's leading event management company, has announced that tickets for the biggest selling classical soloist of all time, Andrea Bocelli's first concert in Abu Dhabi are currently on sale. The concert will be taking place at The Emirates Palace on March 27, 2009.

As a highlight of the 6th Annual Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Festival under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Andrea Bocelli will perform in the gardens of The Emirates Palace to an expected audience of over 5,000 fans on Friday 27th March. This one-off concert is the fourth stop on Andrea Bocelli's current Incanto album tour and will be his only date in the Middle East. In an exciting first collaboration, Andrea Bocelli will be accompanied by the world famous Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra and joined on stage by Conductor M° Marcello Rota, soprano Paola Sanguinetti and baritone Gianfranco Montresor.

Andrea Bocelli: Incanto, live in Abu Dhabi is brought to the 6th Annual Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Festival through a collaboration between Flash and the festival organisers, the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF), and is Flash's first collaboration with an existing Abu Dhabi festival.

This incredible classical concert is sponsored by Mubadala, Aldar and Du in association with Etihad Airways, and is showcased as part of the 6th Annual Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Festival.

The 6th Annual Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Festival runs from March 21st until April 2nd and is organised by ADMAF and sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Heritage (ADACH) and Mubadala.

Andrea Bocelli was born in Lajatico, in rural Tuscany, not far from the ancient city of Pisa.

In 1996 and 1997 Andrea Bocelli exploded on album charts across the world, with the international debut album, Romanza, a collection of passionate popular songs. In 1999, Andrea released Sacred Arias, which went on to become his most successful classical album to date. It has also become the biggest selling album by a classical soloist of all time. With its release, Andrea captured a listing in the Guinness Book of World Records, as he simultaneously held the No 1, 2 and 3 positions on the US classical album chart. The next three-and-a-half years followed with Andrea holding permanent residency at the No 1 spot.

Throughout his career, Andrea Bocelli has recorded and released 13 studio albums plus an additional six opera sets (La Bohéme, Tosca, Trovatore, Werther, I Pagliacci and Cavalleria Rusticana) which are also the base for his concert performances and five music-videos (A night in Tuscany, Sacred Arias, Tuscan Skies, Under the desert sky and Vivere-Live in Tuscany).

Alongside Andrea Bocelli, other key artists for the Festival include The Bolshoi Ballet; one by the most gifted opera singer of our time, Romanian soprano Angela Gheorghiu; internationally acclaimed German tenor Jonas Kaufmann; Oud virtuoso, Naseer Shamma, who will accompany World Music Award Winner, Tunisian actress and singer, Latifa; French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet in a unique collaboration with the world's best known solo flautist, Sir James Galway and inspiring Russian cellist Nina Kotova; legendary Lebanese UN Goodwill Ambassador and soprano Magida El Roumi; and Karim Said, a strikingly talented young pianist who has quickly emerged at the forefront of the international concert stage.

The Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF) was established in 1996 as a non-profit organisation based on benevolent work. It aims to complement Abu Dhabi's cultural vision, setting the highest standard for social responsibility institutes. ADMAF advances the arts, education, culture and creativity in the Emirate.
