Concertmaster David Coucheron will take center stage to perform Barber's Violin Concerto with guest conductor Susanna Mälkki and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra October 10, 2013, at 8:00 p.m. and October 12, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

"The Barber Concerto is one of the greatest American works written for violin," said Mr. Coucheron. "It is a beautiful concerto filled with gorgeous lyrical passages and a very technically challenging last movement. I have always loved this piece and am looking forward to collaborating with the brilliant conductor Susanna Mälkki and my talented colleagues in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for the upcoming performances."

Mr. Coucheron, a Norwegian violinist who will turn 28 in early September, is the youngest concertmaster among any major U.S. Orchestra. Ms. Mälkki, who is making her Atlanta Symphony debut with these performances, will also lead the Orchestra in Ravel's Mother Goose Suite and Sibelius's Symphony No. 2.
