The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra presents Harp Magic on Saturday, March 12 at 8:00pm at the Michigan Theater with special guest Primor Sluchin. Whether you are a life-long music lover, or simply curious about what a live concert can do to add sparkle to your life, Harp Magic will be a concert you'll enjoy. On the program are two

Primor Sluchin, trained in the French School of the harp by the greatest names of the instrument, perpetuates a tradition of excellence, virtuosity and poetry. Inspired, rigorous, and ever-exploring new musical fields, she offers the sound of a precise, assertive and sparkling harp.

Her talent and her work have been recognized with numerous awards in France and abroad. She was the unanimous 1st Prize winner during her studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. She was awarded the 1st Prize at the International UFAM Competition, the Arles's Chamber Music Competition and the special Spedidam prize at the International Martine Géliot Harp Competition. In 2002, she was awarded the prestigious Karajan Scholarship and joined the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Sir Simon Rattle.

Since 2003 when she joined the Opéra Royal de Wallonie as a solo harpist, Sluchin has promoted the harp in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. She has also performed with the Belgian National Orchestra, the Brussels Philharmonic, La Monnaie, the Luxembourg Philarmonic Orchestra, the Nuove Musiche Orchestra, the Orchestre National d'Ile de France and the Radio France Philarmonic Orchestra.

A passionate teacher, Sluchin taught in France, then at the Académie de Waremme, near Liège. Since 2010, she has been one of the driving forces of the Harpegio Association which supports and promotes the young Belgian harpists through master classes and the biennial international competition of the Musée des Instruments de Musique de Bruxelles.
