2014 Deck the Hall Holiday Concerts Begin Tonight at Walt Disney Concert Hall

Each holiday season the Los Angeles Philharmonic celebrates at Walt Disney Concert Hall with the annual Deck the Hall holiday concerts. Beginning tonight, December 16, performances featuring an eclectic array of artists bring the joy of the season to concert goers of all ages. From the famous harmonies of The Manhattan Transfer, to the Latin flair of The Arturo Sandoval Big Band, to the celebration of Hannukah with The Klezmatics, the LA Phil's wide-ranging programming provides something for everyone during this special time of year.

In addition to the holiday sights and sounds happening on stage, the LA Phil Store - opened as part of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in 2003 - has become a popular destination to find unique and cherished gifts. This Fall, the LA Phil Store underwent a makeover, with a fresh new look and design that improves the shopping experience and highlights many new products and the latest gift trends related to music, architecture and design. The LA Phil Store is open 10AM - 5PM daily, as well as before, during and after evening concerts.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic also continues to offer the LA Phil Gift Card, which can be used for the purchase of tickets to concerts produced by the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl, as well as purchases at the LA Phil Store, The Bowl Store and select restaurants and concession stands (where credit cards are accepted) at Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl.

The Manhattan Transfer Christmas Show

The Manhattan Transfer return to Walt Disney Concert Hall with The Manhattan Transfer Christmas Show - a program featuring seasonal favorites and songs from their three-decade career of popular and jazz hits. With ten Grammy Awards and twenty nominations, their induction into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and despite the recent loss of the group's founder, Tim Hauser, The Manhattan Transfer will continue to tour, bringing fans the music and performances they treasure. Although each member acknowledges that Tim is irreplaceable, Trist Curless, who has stepped in for Tim on occasion, will take Tim's musical spot so the group can maintain its rightful place in musical history.

A Chanticleer Christmas

Heralded as "the world's reigning male chorus" by The New Yorker magazine, Chanticleer returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall with A Chanticleer Christmas. Continuing their much-loved tradition, this "orchestra of voices" captures the bright spirit of the season in a radiant holiday program.

Holiday Organ Spectacular

The splendor of the annual Holiday Organ Spectacular, featuring organist David Higgs and soprano Lisa Thelen, returns. The concert combines sacred and traditional holiday music, and the audience is encouraged to sing along to some of the most beloved carols. The program also includes performances of classical organ masterworks by Higgs.

The beloved Holiday Sing-Along, hosted by jovial storyteller David Prather, returns, featuring the Hall's famous pipe organ complemented by the glorious voices of the Angeles Chorale, a jazz combo, and an appearance by Santa Claus. Audience members are provided with lyric sheets and led by the performers in songs and carols of the season such as "The Twelve Days of Christmas," "Jingle Bells," and "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer."

The Klezmatics: Happy Joyous Hanukkah

The Klezmatics return to Walt Disney Concert Hall for a Hanukkah celebration filled with contemporary klezmer music. Often called a "Jewish roots band," the group has led a popular revival of this ages-old, nearly forgotten art form that, in its first incarnations, flourished at Jewish weddings and other joyous occasions. The group brings the expanded lineup from their Grammy-winning album Wonder Wheel, which features lyrics by Woody Guthrie, and the Klezmatics' unique blend of traditional klezmer music with Eastern European, Latin, Celtic, Afro-Carribean, and folk-flavored influences. The group's album Woody Guthrie's Happy Joyous Hanukkah also includes new music for Guthrie lyrics.

The Arturo Sandoval Big Band Christmas

Trumpet virtuoso Arturo Sandoval makes his Walt Disney Concert Hall debut leading his vibrant big band in a jazz program specially created for the holidays. One of the most dynamic and vivacious live performers of our time, Sandoval, a protégé of the legendary jazz master Dizzy Gillespie, has received the highest accolades throughout his illustrious career including ten Grammy Awards, six Billboard Awards, and an Emmy. In addition to touring globally, Sandoval has been seen by millions at the Oscars, at the Grammy Awards and at the Billboard Awards. He is also a 2013 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

New Year's Eve with Pink Martini
The von Trapps, special guests

Ring in the New Year with Pink Martini and their spirited blend of music traditions from across the globe. From Brazilian samba to French pop, Pink Martini is sure to put on a show that transcends place and time. The effervescent pianist and bandleader Thomas Lauderdale, and incomparable vocalist China Forbes host, with special guests The von Trapps, the great-grandchildren of the Captain and Maria von Trapp, whose story became the inspiration for the beloved musical The Sound of Music.
