An all-star cast will take the stage at Atlanta Symphony Hall to perform the ultimate story of love, seduction and betrayal -- Samson and Delilah. Music Director Robert Spano will lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) in Saint-Saëns' opera in the 2014-15 season grand finale. The performances will take place this weekend, June 4, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. and June 6, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.
According to the Old Testament, Samson's great strength, embodied in his flowing hair, made him invincible, until he met his greatest weakness in a woman named Delilah. Tenor Stuart Skelton will play the hero, Samson, mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe will play the seductress, Dalila, bass-baritone Greer Grimsley will play the High Priest. Other cast members include bass Nathan Stark, bass Timothy J. Bruno, tenor Bradley Howard, bass-baritone Stephen Ozcomert and tenor Grant Knox. The season finale will also feature the ASO Chorus.
On Friday, June 5, 2015, Music Director Robert Spano will conduct the Orchestra in an abbreviated performance in the final "First Friday" of the 2014-15 season. The concert will feature Saint-Saëns' "Bacchanale" from Samson et Dalila and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade. The one-hour First Friday performance will take place June 5, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. and lasts approximately one hour without intermission. All tickets are $25.
