JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Eighty-eight years of observing the human condition shaped author James Beeson's unique insight on the sundry hues of human life. In his newly-released book "Damaged Merchandise" (published by Xlibris), Beeson captures this variety through colorful characters, each an emblematic portrayal of human flaws. Their story demonstrates the universality of imperfection and how an indomitable human spirit compensates for such foibles.
"Damaged Merchandise" characterizes familiar people who may be identifiable in the media, in households, or in the streets. The title, according to Beeson, is a euphemistic term applied to a flawed person, something that applies to everybody, no matter the degree. This book draws a caricature of the fateful circumstances of such people and how they compensate with their flaws - or not. Nevertheless, love remains the biggest motivator for anyone to succeed.
"We are all flawed in some way or another," says Beeson. "Despite these, we still have to see beyond our own pitfalls and discover our innate ability to cope with misfortune. It's a human thing."
Uplifting and realistic in its entirety, "Damaged Merchandise" offers an inspiring read that exalts the beauty and infirmity of being human - the necessary balance that keeps life an interesting journey.
