LONDON- The author Zander van Hoepen has always had a love for stories, and throughout the years he has yet to grow tired of writing. In "First Move" (published by Xlibris) the author creates an immersive read patterned after his own experiences moving to another place and the anxiety and niceties of meeting new people.
"First Move" is a story about Shawn de Vos, a teenage guy in senior high who immigrates with his family to America from South Africa after his father landed a job in Little Rock, Arkansas. The book revolves around his transition into his new school and environment. Being a victim of bullying at first, he struggles to find his place in school and above all to overcome some very daunting challenges.
This book addresses the fact that it is ok to be ordinary and that life can be enjoyed at times more so being ordinary than the coolest teen on the block. It also shows realistically the destructive power of drugs and teaches the reader just how valuable good loyal friends can be.
