ZINIO Releases New iOS And Android Apps With Mobile Optimized Reading To Its Customers In 70 Countries Image

NEW YORK, March 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ ZINIO, the world's first and largest digital magazine newsstand, has announced a revolutionary update to its award-winning app. Now with ZINIO's enhanced text mode optimized for mobile devices, users can read their digital magazines on iOS and Android in a way never before possible.

"Just as ZINIO was the first digital magazine newsstand in the market more than a decade ago, we are now the first to offer mobile-optimized reading across thousands of publications in our catalog," said Rolf Rower, Senior Vice President for Product Management.

ZINIO's enhanced text mode uses proprietary extraction technology, also available in its ZINIOpro product line, to transform digital-replica magazine pages into a reading experience made specifically for mobile devices. Users can now read content using vertical scroll with article images embedded directly into the article, all while maintaining advertising and the publication's look and feel.

"As customers' reading habits shifted to mobile devices and they preferred article-based content, we set out on a technological journey to provide that experience to our customers across the 6,000+ magazines we offer," Rowher continued. "We did so without changing the workflow of the 1,000+ publishers we work with, and maintaining the advertising presentation that is so important to our customers and publishers. We're seeing more and more publishers adopt ZINIO's technology platform to power their apps and build new products from an incredible archive of article-based content available via our APIs."

"Our engineering and product teams tested countless iterations of the enhanced text mode before finalizing on this current version," he added. "Our goal was to provide a reading experience that moved the magazine industry beyond replica pages on mobile devicesand do so at scale."

The new ZINIO app is available today foriOSandAndroiddevices. The technology platform that powers the new apps, called ZINIO Pro, is available to any publisher seeking to publish mobile-friendly apps or mobile web reading experiences and to distribution partners or digital newsstand operators that seek to have white-label versions of a mobile-optimized reading experience by using the ZINIO Pro technology suite.
