Walkout is a true story about a nonviolent protest by students at T.L. Weston Jr/Sr High School in Greenville, Mississippi on September 23, 24, and 25 in 1969. The students protested the injustice and inequalities in the Mississippi State Board of Education System.
It is an account of the unfair treated by the “Separate but Equal” school system in the state of Mississippi. The students found a voice to push back on the Greenville Public School Board for the many years of neglect toward black schools. 50 years later, the problems have not been solved. This book takes a closer look at racism and the problems that still exist today.
