Looking for a spooky book - Jason Fischer of Adelaide, South Australia, and 2010 winner of the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future contest, announced the release of his new zombie collection, "Everything Is a Graveyard."
Jason is very excited about the project and when interviewed by the contest this week he stated, "The premise of the collection is that each piece is a post-apocalypse or zombie related. As for the collection, it's a 'best of' retrospective showing many of my award-winning/nominated stories from the last few years, as well as some new material. They're all my stories, with an introduction by Aussie zombie expert Rob Hood. My Writers of the Future winning story "The House of Nameless" is included as well as a new story that is an immediate sequel to the piece. The 24-hour-challenge story I wrote in Los Angeles at the contest workshop 'L'Hombre' is the first new piece in this collection, with a dedication to former Writers of the Future contest coordinating K.D. Wentworth."
"I was lucky enough to engage a cover-artist I've used frequently, Aussie comic artist Jason Paulos. The cover-art (Australian muscle-car, feral with a shotgun, and drop-bears, a mythical Aussie creature) existed before the lead story, the title novella 'Everything is a Graveyard'."
"When I found out that I was expected to write that story, I had to reverse engineer these details into a new piece. So it was very interesting to work back to front, where the art-work existed before the fiction! I'd like to think the story works, it was great fun to write. It's like a bizarre mix of Mad Max and Jurassic Park."
Jason started his career by entering and winning in the international contest known for launching careers in speculative fiction, with the short story "The House of Nameless," appearing in the L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future volume 26 (Galaxy Press), in 2010.
