Writers of the Future Volume 29 Receives Top Spots on Amazon Science Fiction Short Stories List

On its first official day of release, Writers of the Future volume 29 has claimed the top spots on Amazon.com science fiction short stories list with the book at #1 and Kindle edition at #2, it was announced by Joni Labaqui, the Contest Director. "Long known as the premier science fiction anthology for heralding new writers and artists into the professional ranks of science fiction and fantasy, this year is certainly no exception," stated Labaqui.

Galaxy Press, publisher of L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 29 (ISBN 978-1-61986-200-5; $7.99) has been building its online campaign for several months leading up to this launch. "With all of our Contest judges, our Contest winners and nearly three decades of Contest entrants, we have a strong base of fans we are able to reach out to," continued Labaqui. The Writers of the Future writing contest was initiated by L. Ron Hubbard in 1983 to provide a means for aspiring writers to get that much-needed break. Due to the success of the Writing Contest, the companion Illustrators of the Future Contest was created in 1988.

The intensive mentoring process has been proven very successful. The 348 past winners of the Writing Contest have published 838 novels and nearly 4,000 short stories. They have produced 27 New York Times bestsellers and their works have sold over 50 million copies.

The 276 past winners of the Illustrating Contest have produced over 4,500 illustrations, 356 comic books, graced 594 books and albums with their art and visually contributed to 36 TV shows and 46 major movies.
