For Sylvia Hawthorn-Deppen, it was taking the wheel and enjoying the ride that left a life of pain in the dust.
In her new memoir Wheel, author Sylvia Hawthorn-Deppen documents her recovery from almost 60 years of chronic pain - exposing how she learned to live with pain but without suffering.
"I thought I had to die to escape the misery during those dark years," said Hawthorn-Deppen. "I thought even if there could be a miracle, I didn't deserve one. But I was wrong."
Encouraging a shift of attitude, habits and lifestyle to support healing, Hawthorn-Deppen's story provides a personal perspective of recovering from physical, mental and emotional trauma.
Hawthorn-Deppen, who suffered from both a stair and car injury in her youth, says confronting the pain and its causes after years of numbness and countless hospital visits led to her recovery.
A sometimes whimsical look at a serious subject, Wheel shares an inspirational tale for anyone seeking to thrive past life's challenges.
