Author and small business owner Sheri Wren Haymore of Mount Airy, NC tells the chilling tale of two college-aged kids finding themselves deeply entangled in perilous circumstances that force them to confront the truths they have been running from in her sophomore novel, "A Deeper Cut."

"A Deeper Cut" appeals to any reader of thriller/suspense novels and leads into the deeper truths of forgiveness and the wonders of life that make it truly worthwhile. In "A Deeper Cut," college kid Hunter Kittrell and friend, Miki, decide to pull a harmless prank in order to liven up the sleepy town of Beaufort, North Carolina. Their "harmless prank," however, quickly finds them caught up in a bloody faceoff with a knife-wielding serial killer. Everything comes crashing down on Hunter's 21st birthday, when he is finally forced to confront the truths he's been running from all his life.

"Hunter Kittrell is just a kid with a somewhat uncertain future," Haymore says. "I would definitely call Hunter an unlikely hero. While very careless with his life, what's at stake is his heart. He takes it all for granted-life, his future, his own freedom, his lifelong friendships...until faced with the possibility of losing it all. The question is not so much what he is willing to sacrifice, but what he is willing to grab hold of and what is really worthwhile."

Haymore says the inspiration of the book began with her desire to tell a story that has meaning, reaching to challenge readers to reflect on what aspects of their lives are truly worthwhile and to consider taking risks to seize the moment before it slips away forever.

Haymore has been writing professionally for over 30 years, gaining her start at a High Point, NC marketing firm, B&C Associates. She received her bachelor's degree from High Point University in English with a minor in business administration. Haymore is the owner of Scenic Gifts in Mount Airy, as well as communicator for her husband, Clyde's, custom table business, Woodgenius, also located in Mount Airy. Haymore's debut novel, "A Higher Voice," was released in July 2013.
