William Rowland and Marna Neal Release NO LONGER UNKNOWN

KEYSVILLE, Va.

By visiting any of the national military cemeteries in the United States, one will find the headstones marking the final resting place of US military personnel killed in battles, beginning with the Civil War to the present. But one will also find other identical headstones-identical in shape and size but different in that these stones bear no name except "Unknown."

"No Longer Unknown" (published by Xlibris) by William Rowland and Marna Neal tells the story of how they became part of about 100 group of dedicated people with widely diverse backgrounds who brought every personal and professional skill they possessed to a small town in Japan to find and restore the identity of the remains of several thousand unknown servicemen killed in combat during two World Wars and the Korean conflict.

"I think everyone who has been in service or has a relative, dead or alive that has served their country has an interest in the disposition of the remains of those unidentified," the author says. "I have found no other book that details how the unknowns are identified."

In writing "No Longer Unknown," the writers venture into a largely unknown but highly essential territory. They have put themselves in the shoes of a family who has only been told that their loved one is missing, presumed dead and his location is unknown. With this book, they have tried to answer all those questions and bring final closure to thousands of cases still existing today.

About the Authors
William Rowland served 20 years in the US Army. Following his retirement, he was employed by a Washington, DC, lobby as director of information. His final civilian employment was manager of product publicity for Chiquita Banana, a branch of United Fruit Company in Boston, Ma. He now resides in Keysville, Va.

Marna Neal was raised in New York State and holds a master's degree in education from the University of Mississippi. She has traveled extensively in the United States and overseas, with special ties to Jyvaskyla, Finland. She is coauthor of the book "Common Bottles for the Average Collector. " She currently resides in Dover, Pa.
