"Life in the Ditch": a strong and dynamic novel about the trials and tribulations of a railroad emergency responder. "Life in the Ditch" is the creation of published author, William Lynn Smith, who hails from a small farming community along the Mississippi River in West Tennessee, and has spent forty-three years writing descriptive reports.
"All the descriptions of the incidents were told to me by responders," William reveals about his inspiration for this book. "Many stories, mostly true but some admittedly embellished, were told by many different responders from all major railroads and emergency service organizations."
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, William Lynn Smith's new book follows the main character, Clayton Tanner, through his "life in the ditch" as he faces challenges that range from critical to comical, mundane to monstrous.
Comprised of actual events that took place on the railroads that wind through Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Arkansas, this book sheds light on what life is like for the people who earn their keep in the ditch that drains the railroad track bed on the right of way.
