When author Wendy Dartnall's husband was dying of cancer and could no longer communicate with her, she decided to write letters to him. That experience led to her writing and releasing the book "A Wind from the East" (published by Balboa Press AU).

The idea came from her daughter. "It seemed so obvious once she'd said it," Dartnall says. "That night, I wrote my first letter to him. The seed had been planted."

The book is about relationships: one couple's relationship with each other, their relationships with other family members, their shared relationship with nature and hiking and their differing relationships with spirituality.

"It is relevant in that many more people today see themselves as spiritual without necessarily being religious in the traditional sense," Dartnall adds. "The book is about finding emotional strength and happiness in life by trusting one's own resources and inner strengths. In other words, discovering one's own re-source - the inner Source that is in every human being."
