RICHMOND, Va.
Many people have read and heard the Gospels, but few have truly experienced them. In his new book, "What was the World of Jesus," author Carl Roemer sets the scene for readers to travel back to the first century A.D. and encounter the Gospels in the same way as first century audiences.
As a devoted professor at State University of New York in Binghamton, Dr. Roemer conducted a decade of research towards Biblical culture. Rich in history, "What was the World of Jesus," introduces readers to a pivotal time in the development of Judaism and Christianity as they are known today.
Throughout the book, Roemer provides vivid details to help readers gain a comprehensive picture of what Jewish life looked like in the first century A.D.
"The Gospels were all originally read aloud to an audience who were intimately familiar with the background which gave the words immediacy, meaning, and vibrancy," said Roemer. "This book is designed to provide the scenery so the Gospels can again be heard in a way similar to the experience of the original audience."
"What was the World of Jesus" can be a valuable resource for those seeking insight into this time period.
