You've remodeled your home and landscaped your yard; you like your new hairdo and fabulous clothes, but your family is a different story. Geneva Turner sets families on new life paths using God's plan in "What if Our Father Were Not A Man."
In the book, Turner counsels parents on when and what to teach their children about work, leadership, people and life issues. She also helps them determine a tangible vision plan for success and happiness.
The end goal, Turner says, is to help parents keep their families healthy and happy in the pressures of modern society.
"Parents must own and identify their own shortcomings before they can guide their children" Turner says. "When parents are uncertain on their life course, it's almost certain that their children will develop into misdirected, financially unstable adults."
The book comes from both a personal and professional place for Turner. Some advice comes from her father, who Turner credits for keeping her family safe and on a life path that allowed her to receive a good education and start to her life. Professionally, as a registered nurse with more than 30 years in nursing and nursing education, she has seen what happens when parents inadvertently misdirect or neglect their children.
"Parents need to identify early warning signs that indicate the directions of their child's life," Turner says. "In spite of economic downturns, community surroundings, or societal whelms, they should focus on raising their children with a vision plan and afford them the best possible chance at a happy life."
