New Diamonds and Old Gems is a poetic journey that sails to celestial shores. Award-winning poet William H. Shuttleworth's collected works capture the seasons of nature as well as the seasons of life; the historical as well as the hysterical; the heartbeat of love as well as that of God above. Readers will not need a pirate's treasure map for this expedition, for this voyage leads to none other than "the unsearchable riches of Christ."

A poem to some is worth little more than a throw-away stone, but it can begin to glisten like a precious gem when a reader pauses to digest the gist of it. As a wise poet once said, "the poem does not belong to the poet, but rather to the one who needs it."

Unquestionably, some verses in Shuttleworth's collection flow along like pulpit palpitations. The author writes, "Jesus was born in a stable to redeem a world unstable." Rather than just offering a mere smidgen of religion, he stirs with the sound of Sacred Scripture. The reason: "We have an anchor of the soul both sure and steadfast."

Shuttleworth invites his readers to hoist those sails, and discover New Diamonds and Old Gems for a venture beyond the limits of their wildest imagination. The poet's recent voyage brought him a sparkling "International Who's Who in Poetry Award" in 2012. A lottery ticket can't beat that.

About the Author
William H. Shuttleworth was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1937; eventually settling in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1976. His lifelong craft as furniture finisher and restorer seemed to invite this adventurous transition. In younger, vibrant years, he followed God's call to serve as a lay-preacher for the American Rescue Workers Mission in Camden, New Jersey. Later, in the south, he studied art and became an exhibiting member of The Art League of Jacksonville.

His obsession with poetry began when challenged to write a poem in 1990. By 2005, he had authored five book titles sprinkled with various jottings of prose. During this same span, he received the ISP International Poet of Merit Award and three NLP Editor's Choice Awards. He's since been published in "The International Who's Who in Poetry," and is a member of the International Society of Poets, and more recently, The Academy of American Poets. Emerald Records of Nashville and Premier Melodies of New York have turned a few of his poems into songs.
