Many young boys hope to play a sport on the professional level as an adult, yet Super Bowls, NBA Championships and baseball World Series seem to be just distant, unattainable dreams for most.
"Walking With Herb: A Spiritual Golfing Journey to the Masters," a new inspirational novel by Joe S. Bullock, allows the reader to imagine the possibility of competing at the highest level with the help of a little practice, a lot of faith and a golf guru named Herb.
In the story, God has decided he is tired of watching people fail to live up to their potential. He selects a very ordinary man-a banker named Joe-to prove that people are far more capable than they believe they are, and calls him to play in the Masters Golf Tournament.
"I believe this book provides a spiritual booster shot for readers who have kept their faith on the back burner," Bullock said. "The humor throughout the story makes the medicine go down easier and it might just improve your golf game."
Bullock-a small town banker similar to the main character-believes too many people settle for repetitive, unrewarding lives. He wants to help others live up to their potential and create a stronger bond with God, who is presented as humorous and approachable in "Walking With Herb."
"I believe in God," Bullock said. "I believe he is constantly communicating with us, we just have to learn to be better listeners. I believe that faith is the door by which he enters our lives."
