In the depths of the French Quarter in New Orleans, there lies evil – not the kind of evil that attacks in an instant, but a decaying type that eats from within. An unsuspecting young man – a time traveler, if you will – Riley Clarke has his soul devoured thanks in part to what his mother did to a Voodoo queen centuries ago. Now it's time to pay. Nola won't ever be the same after a very difficult Mardi Gras night.

On August 24, 2017, the horror that is "Voudou Juice" – Joseph A. Federico's breakout novella – will be coming to Myrtle Beach.

In 2012, this profound, young author began writing the manuscript on the sunny beaches of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – namely at Ocean Creek Plantation. However, the story's outline was much different than how it turned out when it came time to officially publish.

In 2014, Federico then visited New Orleans with a dear friend, and a new plot, new characters came into the spotlight. It was because of luscious libations and southern haunts that the author got bitten by the writing bug once more. Tales of old pirates, spiritual jazz, down home cooking and wrought iron structures whirled around, inspiring Federico from the inside out.

Joseph A. Federico always had an appreciation for the south, and studied works of other authors such as Stephen King, Anne Rice, and her son, Christopher Rice, in order to emulate the perfect plot and character outline. Said famous authors spooked Federico, yet excited him at the same time. Christopher Rice's first novel, however – "A Density of Souls" – was a cornerstone to the building of "Voudou Juice."

If you are in the area, Joseph A. Federico will be signing first edition copies of "Voudou Juice" from 11:45AM – 1:45PM at:

Myrtle Beach Book Warehouse
4634 Factory Stores Blvd., Suite M120
