Vernon Bargainer's new novel, "It Is Morning" (published by iUniverse), is the story of a young man's tireless search for his childhood sweetheart. It was inspired by events in Bargainer's life - "It haunted me to the point I had to write it down in order to get it off my mind."
Andy Boone, Bargainer's protagonist, is a careerist and a feisty warrior. As the novel begins, his relationships are limited to those who help him and those who try to hinder him. It isn't until his quest begins, and a cast of characters assembles against him, that his search begins in earnest.
An excerpt from "It is Morning":
"Andy sat slumped in his parked car, brooding about the rites of time, wishing they did not work such cruel magic. For him, time's strange ritual had quietly filtered events of his childhood and had buried most of them. But into a scattered few, it had cast immortal breath. She was one of those - Lorrie Dean."
"It is Morning" is packed with mystery, suspense and conflict without the element of a murder or other heinous crime. It has redeeming bright moments which capture the potential of human relations. "It depicts the quest for love and the power of friendship," Bargainer says.
