Artistic director Van Dirk Fisher compiles an anthology of 12 plays from New York's Strawberry One-Act Festival in "The Best Plays from the Strawberry One-Act Festival: Volume Seven" (published by iUniverse).
"The mission of the Strawberry One-Act Festival is to provide a platform to nurture and develop new plays," Fisher says. "To that end, I have selected the best plays from our festival to share with theater lovers ... who might be interested in performing the plays in our anthology."
While the play "It's Greek to Me" tackles one woman's grieving process following her husband's death, "Heroes" pays tribute to American veterans enduring the lasting effects of war injuries.
"All of the plays in this anthology were loved by the audiences," Fisher says. "When people come to the festival, they see three to four plays in one sitting ... The plays make them cry, laugh, think and, in the end, just simply feel alive."
Book-signing events will take place Feb. 9 from noon-3 p.m at the Bronx Museum of the Arts at 1040 Grand Concourse and Feb. 13 from 5-7 p.m. at the Theatre at St. Clement's, located at 423 W. 46th St.
