LANCASTER, Penn.
With a mutual interest in commentary on women's roles in biblical times, authors Valerie Fons and Nancy Regensburger worked together to write their new study, "From Shame to Glory: Mothers in the Heritage of Jesus" (published by iUniverse).
"From Shame to Glory" highlights the women in biblical history who ultimately fell into the familial lineage of Jesus Christ, showing how their lives and actions significantly played part in the heritage that resulted in the life of Christ.
The book acts as a learning text for readers, using selected Bible verses, a guide to studying those verses, related stories taken from the authors' lives and thought-provoking questions to aid the readers' study of the text.
"Essentially, women who are subjects in this text lived in the Holy Land in biblical times," Fons and Regensburger say. "There are some modern-day societies that still do not value a woman's view in religion or common life. This book shows the courage and vision of these biblical women."
The authors hope their book sparks a dialogue regarding the value of female participation in modern and ancient societies.
