MONTGOMERY, Ala. - "During the past several decades, we have witnessed a severe deterioration in traditional family and national core values, which are contributing to the current problems plaguing the USA," says author John H. Davis. With an earnest desire to contribute to the wellness of his motherland, Davis lays out the situation inside the pages of "United States of America - Right Now" (published by Xlibris) and urges fellow citizens to be mindful of their ways in order to preserve their real virtues and the real American Dream.

"Americans are often accused of not showing appropriate appreciation for the freedom we enjoy in the United States today. My opinion is that Americans place uncompromising value on the rights proclaimed in the U.S. Declaration of Independence and guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution," Davis says. "We have ample value, but lack enough sympathetic understanding for our inherited rights and freedom."

As he traces the origin and foundation of the American Dream, showing how modern day citizens unwittingly and deliberately misrepresent and exploit the dream, Davis discusses the causes and consequences of the dream distortion, which is the cause of current problems the state faces today according to him. By critical analysis, Davis was also able to suggest corrective actions to help pave the way to reliving the dream.

About the Author
John H. Davis is a native of North Carolina, who migrated to eastern Virginia near the end of 1950 in search of a better life. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, completed basic and advance training at Fort Benning, Ga., and then traveled to Germany on his first overseas assignment. After his tour in Germany, Davis returned to Fort Belvoir, Va., where he got married and established his new home in Washington DC. Later, he moved to northern Virginia, where he established primary residency after his retirement from the military. Davis has used his vast military and civil servant experience, along with extensive research on the development of the United Sates as a nation and major current events impacting the state of the union to write this book. Perhaps the most valuable source of information comes from observing the social, economic, political, technological changes, and observing fellow Americans' daily activities and listening to them air their opinions about current major issues and situations impacting their lives and the welfare of the United States of America.
