PLANO, Texas, Oct. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ Dr. Yoram Solomon, The Creativity Doctor, Author of Bowling with a Crystal Ball, From Startup to Maturity, and Worst Diet Ever shares his findings from his two decade long research and experience to understand why are people creative when they work in startups more than when they work in Corporate America. In Un-Kill Creativity, he offers Corporate America advice on reversing this trend. Consistently innovative companies have 6 times market share, 3 times profitability, and do 50% better during recession than their peers.

"Great ideas are NOT accidental," he says. The focus of this book is on how to motivate people to be creative. The motivation comes at three levels: corporate climate, team dynamics, and individual creativity.

To create a culture of creativity you don't need to give employees one day a week to innovate, or build an innovation lab. You must give them autonomy. Team dynamics can make or break its creativity, depending on where it is on the scale between political correctness and passionate debate. Finally, he believes that creativity is learned, and exercised, and this book shows how.

The path to innovation, according to Solomon, goes through four I's: Introspection, Intervention, Ideation, and Implementation. Un-Kill Creativity shows how.

Leaders in Corporate America will learn:

  • Who is responsible for innovation in the company?
  • Why do we get our best ideas in the shower?
  • What builds, and what breaks employee creativity?
  • How many ideas does it take to have one market success?
  • How do we measure innovation and creativity?

Quotes from the book:

  • "Creativity is less like golf and more like curling"
  • "Knowledge is not the issuemotivation is"
  • "When you debate, you experiment with ideas"
  • "You don't need to drive innovation, but you must allow it."
  • "There is no 'I' in team, but there are two I's in Innovation and two in Creativity. It's all about people, and how you motivate them to be creative"
