About the Author
Tommie Morton-Young is a historian, author and activist. A leader in African-American genealogy, she founded two genealogical societies and has published over a dozen books in history/genealogy, psychology, women's issues and poetry. She holds the Ph.D. degree from Duke University, and was formerly professor and Dean at a number of American universities. She presently writes, owns and operates a heritage tour company and lectures.
