A recipient of the highest medal bestowed by the Austro-Hungarian Empire during the war that began on 1914, Karl Marbach now works for Vienna Criminal Police — Vienna Kripo. He is concerned with his lover’s highly emotional, deeply passionate hatred of Nazism, which he sees as futile and dangerous. He has a good wife and a teenage daughter who is attracted to Nazism. But they both recognize that if their daughter doesn't openly profess devotion to Nazism, she won’t be safe in post-Anschluss Vienna.
As their lives and views unfold, readers see a slice-of-life story offering eye-opening insights into Nazi-occupied Vienna. This thrilling novel then tackles struggles of a man torn between “Habsburg Honor and Nazi Duty.” Set after the time of the Nazi annexation of Austria, this book provides the apt background for such emotionally and physically charged tale of war of man, ideals and beliefs.
