Author Tina M. Abulhassan has often been asked, "What was it like living in Saudi Arabia?" Having answered this question and the subsequent questions many times Abulhassan decided to put her life story on paper to record it once and for all. Her new memoir, "Life from Cabrini Green to Life in Saudi Arabia: A Real Life Story" (published by Trafford Publishing), shares her personal journey.

Abulhassan begins her book with her childhood to give readers a glimpse into the events that led her to the Middle East. When she met her husband, Yasser, she began a 13-year sojourn in Saudi Arabia. She then describes the impact living in another country with another culture had on her and her family.

"Life from Cabrini Green to Life in Saudi Arabia" provides insight into a multicultural marriage and raising multicultural children. Abulhassan shows the obstacles a Westerner must face in order to live in Saudi Arabia, but also shows the kindness with which she was treated. Spanning from the Midwest to the Middle East, "Life from Cabrini Green to Life in Saudi Arabia" shows the preconceived notions with which some view a marriage of mixed backgrounds.

"The rest of society looks at a multicultural family as a piece of art, but do not feel that it is something they can personally engage in," Abulhassan says. "It is interesting to understand how two cultures can survive the norm in society and not allow nay-sayers to invoke negative vibes to harm an established multicultural family."
