"When I Was Thirty-Five I Had a Very Good Year" by Timothy J. Templin is a book about life and art. It includes a collection of various artwork of James Edgar Templin, a schoolteacher and father who passed away in 2004. The works of art discovered by his son are paintings done in oil, pastel, watercolor as well as other forms such as baskets, macramé, woodwork, etc. This book is for those who are interested in art, but also offers visual enjoyment and amusing anecdotes.

"What continues from parent to child is more than the genetic components that make up our heritage. More, even, than the learned traits etched into our day-to-day lives. This is the force of creation itself, as it echoes through the generations," says Templin.

This volume is the author's attempt to have the work of his father, James Edgar Templin (JET), available to readers and art enthusiasts. There are some very talented, artistic people that remain unheard of until they have passed away. There are of many books on art and photography but what sets this volume unique from the rest is that it has a personal quality about it, written by the son of the artist that conveys personal stories and anecdotes that may not have been available to another author. There is a force of energy that passes from one generation to another. It is not just money, habits, property or genes. It is a creative force that continues for all time. In addition, Templin hopes the readers enjoy the JET collection and might even be inspire readers to create their own works of art.

Highly imaginative, extremely interesting and pleasantly refreshing, "When I Was Thirty-Five I Had a Very Good Year" offers an amazing work that excites, informs and entertains the readers as it teases their imagination, challenges their intellect, and appeals to their emotions.
