Author Charles F. Lee returns to the world of literature with "El Bestia" (published by Xlibris), the third book of "The Threat From Within Series." Following the seven protagonists as they go on a daring mission to rescue two kidnapped boys, the book gives readers a glimpse of the shady underworld of criminals and drug cartels and how these illicit powers exert their influence in the troubled symbiosis between Mexico and the US.

In "El Bestia," Bob Everett, Mary Ann Morgan, Shirley Gordon, James Baker, Susan Baxter, John K. Clayton and Carla Dickens, former high school classmates with special powers, join Colonels Morris and Stevens in a bold mission to rescue two kidnapped boys. During the daring rescue attempt, Colonel Morris's team confronts drug lord Subcomandante Marcos Zapata, known as El Bestia (the Beast), and his men in an action-packed thriller that unravels from the murderous streets of Mexico to the cruel underground havens of the US.

The suspenseful chase takes the protagonists beyond the limits of their capacities, testing not only their skills and ingenuity but also their friendship. All the while, Lee paints a real-life backdrop of the alarming issues faced by the two neighboring countries regarding the increasing demand for heroin and certain drugs in the United States which fuels the already severe tension between these adjacent territories.

Excerpt from "The Beast:"
Mary Ann fixed her eyes on the King cobra lying curled up on walnut shards spread across the bottom of the fish tank. Confronted by Mary Ann Morgan's intense mind control, the King cobra reacted to the vibration of the walnut shards and began to rise up straight off the bottom of the tank. It rose above the top of the tank, looked Jose Hernandez in the eye, flared its iconic hood, and emitted a bone-chilling hiss. By the time the snake had risen to his eye level, Jose had already wet his pants.

Suffused with titillating twists and peopled with richly-drawn characters, this final book of the titular series takes readers to a riveting, unforgettable conclusion.
