PENSACOLA, Fla.

In their new book "Thinking Places: Where Great Ideas Were Born" (published by Trafford Publishing) authors Carolyn and Jack Fleming feature the settings in which the world's self-starters dreamed, designed and launched their destinies.

Vignettes of famed writers, leading educators and esteemed public figures appear throughout the book, including portraits of the sanctuaries where each crafted his or her future as a respected figure.

Besides descriptive journeys and vignettes, readers will encounter 31 instances of "lagniappe," a Cajun word meaning "a little something extra."

"Many years ago when we visited the homes of Edvard Grieg and George Bernard Shaw, we discovered that both Grieg and Shaw had a small, one-room garden house - a retreat - separate from the house," the Flemings say. "Here they produced some of the works that made them world-famous. We decided to call these retreats 'thinking places.'"
