"Successful Tails: The Wonders of Therapy Dogs" (published by AuthorHouse) is a "...collection of over 200 testimonials and 350 stories from more than 20 sites and several programs and events in the East Bay area of Northern California," says author Patricia H. Wheeler.
"Successful Tails" also includes short quotes, poems and photos about the work of 51 featured therapy dogs. Readers will travel with the dogs throughout the East Bay area, from nursing homes to camps for children and everywhere in between. Each testimonial is written by the individual that experienced the therapy dogs at work so readers will see the benefits of the therapy dogs from the eyes of patients, residents, parents, veterans, staff and many more. Wheeler hopes the book sparks interest in therapy dog programs, both for sites and programs interested in offering therapy dogs for their clients and for individuals interested in becoming therapy dog handlers.
An excerpt from "Successful Tails: The Wonders of Therapy Dogs":
"A young veteran, withering away of cancer, said, 'I wake up every morning wondering which dog is coming today and what time it will get here.'"
