A former orphan from the Middle East is chosen by God, redeemed and elevated to play an instrumental part in impeding drug supply chains in Don McBurney’s new Christian novel “The Triplet” (published by Archway Press).
Adopted after being orphaned in the Middle East, Gil Webster is raised in Iowa. He joins the military following 9/11 and becomes a translator and intelligence officer. During his service, he joins an undercover operation investigating an opium-smuggling ring in Iraq and becomes involved in revaluation of its new currency after discovering the profit-taking potential of investing in it. Along the way he meets two fellow soldiers Kamal and Tuo and helps them find their faith in Christ.
“Speculators in Iraqi dinar have held their investment for several years in good faith but with very little encouragement from printed material,” McBurney explains. “I wanted to lay a historical frame of reference in order to provide that encouragement to them. At the same time, I wanted it to be from a Christian perspective and not limited to monetary motivation.”

About the Author
Don McBurney was a U.S. Air Force pilot, flying an EC-121 in radar recon and combat air patrol over Vietnam; he also patrolled Korea’s demilitarized zone and he flew the northerly extension of America’s distant early warning line. After his military service, McBurney graduated from Oral Roberts University with a master’s degree in theology, and today he is a retired real estate appraiser. He and his wife of 49 years are active in their local church and are proud parents of five grown children and nine grandchildren.
